CBD 101: What are Phytocannabinoids?

For our CBD newbies or those of us who thirst for knowledge, we are taking you back to the basics today. Phytocannabinoids (also called cannabinoids) are plant-based chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant with tremendous therapeutic properties and attributes. These hardworking, multi-functional compounds interact with your body own natural endocannabinoid system (ECS) to help regulate, restore and maintain your body’s homeostasis (balance). Stay tuned for more about the ECS later this week.

To date, more than 100 different phytocannabinoids have been identified. You likely know the usual suspects, CBD and THC. But other phytocannabinoids include CBG, CBN, CBC, as well as, THCP and CBDP (which were both newly identified this year). Fun fact: The female flowers of the cannabis plant secrete the highest amounts of phytocannabinoids through glandular trichomes (specialized plant structures).

All Pure Bloom products are made using phytocannabinoid rich extract from USDA certified 100% organic US-grown hemp.
